Six Months of Famine
Millions of people from communities devastated by East Africa's worst drought in 60 years still need urgent help, but ongoing violence is making it harder to reach them. The IRC is continuing to deliver lifesaving aid.
HAITI, TWO YEARS ON
Two years after Haiti's devastating earthquake, the IRC is continuing to work in camps and neighborhoods that still lack basic services, assisting Haitians who are struggling to get by as their country slowly recovers and rebuilds.

This afternoon Brooke Hauser, author of “The New Kids: Big Dreams and Brave Journeys at a High School for Immigrant Teens,” visited our New York headquarters for a discussion about the challenges young refugees must overcome in their new lives in America.

I met 10-month-old Farhio Abdi Madey the day after she was admitted to the IRC’s ward for severely malnourished children in Hagadera, one of five refugee camps in the Dadaab complex. She weighed less than most newborns.
